Math Matters is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to help k-12 students build their love and confidence in math. The program was started as a small tutoring program named "Math At the Library" in 2017 from Foothill Ranch Library and was expanded to six public libraries and one school as we saw the high demands in local communities. Since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, We moved our on-site service from libraries to online tutoring.

Over the past six years, we have provided free tutoring services to 800+ kids from the west coast to the east coast. Over 300 tutors have joined and served from 150+ cities. Now we often see new tutors joining based on the information provided by their school guidance counselor.  Most tutors are high school students, with some college students joining from different institutions. We would like to thank many exceptional people who contributed to the development of Math Matters over the years.

Since the summer of 2022, Math Matters has built a partnership with the Peer 1on1 organization to jointly provide assistance to more than 100 autistic students in Southern California. To accommodate the special needs of neurodivergent students, we have recruited more tutors and provided training to our tutors.

We saw tremendous growth in our students in both math and social communication, and tutors shared with us how enjoyable and meaningful it was to be part of this endeavor. With the team, we continue to grow the program and foster a sense of community that shares the core values of teaching, service, commitment, and trust.
